Persuasive Essay

Sports

Imagine yourself smelling the freshly cut grass as you walk onto the field, hearing the bat hit the ball and listening to the children chatting.  These are all things I love when I play sports.  It is important for children to play a team sport. Sports are a great way to stay healthy, to learn life lessons, and an easy way to make new friends.
Playing sports is necessary to your health. Health is good for your growth and you will get stronger for every part of exercise. If you want to stay fit, you need to exercise outside so you get healthy.  Regular exercise allows your muscles to get stronger, and to keep a healthy heart.  Having a stronger heart, and stronger muscles will give kids more energy.  A healthy heart also allows oxygen to flow better throughout the body which will allow kids to think better.  Kids who play sports are less likely to be overweight.  Outside activities are good for your body and you can get you heart pumping and going.
Team sports also teaches important life lessons.  Teamwork is very important when playing a sport.  It doesn't take one person to win a game, it takes a whole team.  This also teaches kids to be unselfish and depend on their teammates. Another lesson is to never give up and always keep trying harder when you play a sport.  The harder you practice, the better you will get, and you will be rewarded with a win.  Playing sports also teaches sportsmanship.  A positive attitude will help your team.  Teamwork, never giving up, and a positive attitude will help later in life when kids get older and start having jobs.  Sometimes during games, it is boring because you have to wait around.  I think it teaches patience and sportsmanship.  It is good to give your body a rest and to help cheer on your team.  It also teaches you how to accept losing.  In life, we are not always going to get what we want, and playing a team sport helps teach kids how to handle that.
Playing team sports is a great way to make new friends.  You get to meet people who enjoy the same sport.  There is a bond between teammates and no one feels left alone.  You get to meet people from the community that you would have normally not met.  Families also have the chance to meet each other.  It is a great way to meet people with different cultures and to learn about them.
I love playing sports because it keeps me healthy,  teaches me life lessons, and I get to meet new friends.  I have learned to lead by example, to try my hardest all the time, and I have a lot of fun when I am playing with my friends.  I encourage all kids to get out and play a team sport and see how it will change your life.

Dear Mr. Booker T Washington:

My name is Dylan. I’m 11 years old and have learned why you are a hero because our class is working on hero projects. I happen to pick you as my hero and you are a great example of what I want to teach and help my brothers. I have been working on leading by example.
Do you think you are a hero? I think you are because you said three or more powerful quotes that I love my favorites are “Success always leaves footprints” and “ Character, not circumstance makes the person”. I like how you want people to be grateful and successful in life. You made a big impact, and I think I should come to you for more advice on leading by example.
I have wondered what inspired you in life? Did you have a role model? You are a great hero and helpful hero to me and other people. You have been a role model for me. I was inspired by your work at Tuskegee University.  I like your life, and you have a great personality. You are showing that a good character is better than circumstances, and with a good character you can overcome your weaknesses and become happy.
I was talking about how you were a great person and lead people to show that they can shine like you. We all have character but we need to bring out our best character because
we wouldn’t be able to shine without it. You made me think that having a leader like you is a great thing to have because you overcome your weaknesses. We can all step up for each other and be happy if we had a hero like you to look up to.
Your hero lover,

Dylan Chiman

Dear Dylan Chiman:

Thank you so much for writing me a kind letter.  I am happy you look up to me but I never thought I was a hero.
The most inspiring thing for me was to have life skills, and that all black people had a chance to be successful.  Working at Tuskegee University helped me achieve that goal.
I would advise you to leave footprints for your brothers, but do not keep looking back.  Show them that your character has lead you to success, so they will want to follow it.  Know matter what circumstance are thrown your way remember your character will lead you to success.

Sincerely,

Booker T. Washington

The Landfill is gone

guest speaker name: Jose

The Landfill

The guest speaker was called by the green team in the 5th grade class and he talk about the landfill. The landfill is where the Trash goes when you throw away trash. They dig up the dirt so they can fill it up with dirt then with seeds then with plants to make even with the land. When the highway changes there are trash under because the concrete will break easily. There is two that we know so far, that is in Mira Mar and next to Balboa park.

The landfill is in the Blue box in this picture.

There is the landfill but it will end very bad because people are throwing their recyclables in the trash. There is one tip to tell the differences from trash and recyclables. Trash is wrinkle and recycle is hard plastic and it has to be clean before throwing it in the recycling bin.
This landfill is how it is now and it will get  even more bigger then it is in the first picture.

Book Summary

My class recently read HOLES, written by Louis Sachar. This book got my attention with the friendship between Stanley and Zero. The setting of the book is at Camp Green Lake and in the mountains.
There are many characters in this book but Stanley and Zero are my favorites. Stanley is a friendly kid and likes to make people happy and have fun. Stanley is a middle-schooler that was being picked on because he was overweight. Stanley’s troubles started when a bully threw his book in the toilet. One day he was walking home and a pair of shoes fell from the sky. Stanley ran home, the police saw him and he got arrested for stealing those shoes. That is how Stanley got to the camp where he had to dig holes for his punishment. Zero was also at the camp, but ended up there differently.
Zero is a quiet kid that comes from a homeless family. This led Zero to camp green lake. Everyone thinks he is dumb because he is so quiet, but he is actually very good at math. Zero can’t read or write, but wants to learn. Zero wanted Stanley to teach him how to read and write.

Stanley and Zero became friends at camp green lake. One day Stanley got in trouble and was sent to the Warden’s office, when Stanley returned Zero had dug Stanley’s hole. Thats when Stanley came up with a trade idea. The trade is, Zero digs Stanley’s hole and Stanley teaches Zero how to read.I like both Zero and Stanley but I mostly like Stanley because he's loyal with his friends and family. Zero is a good kid that practices his reading skills at the camp.
I would recommend this book. The friendship in this story is the important part of this book. Friendships will change your lifestyle. This is the friendship you want that was in my summary. You can also help your friend or anyone with their weakness, then that will make your life better.

Brother Battle

Brother Battle
How will I ever get use to stop fighting with Jayden and make a plan so we can stop getting into big fights? I thought to myself. We were at my house and we were playing games upstairs.
When our mom and dad came home we ran downstairs.I tried to get to the computer first Jayden also wanted to get to the computer first.Me and Jayden started to get mad and we started to argue. We would never stop fighting. We started to set the computer up with our mom and dad.
We started to fix the computer because we saw it was not put together. I wanted to fix the computer because I wanted to play first.I wanted to put the wire in first Jayden said ”less talking and more working”, because he wanted to play on the computer. I said “ you can play on the Wii. We never stop our fights.
When we got done we were still fighting and our mom and dad said “ lest program the computer first and you can make a plan in the mean”. I said “lest play something together so we can play something together on the computer”. We played the legos together and I came with a plan to play in the theater room. I was the won who played in the theater room. Jayden play the lego's and decided to play the  WII.
I decided to go pick up my three year old brother Nykash so I can make a plan. When I got home I played the in the theater room again. I came up With the plan so we can play the computer then fighting alllll day long. I wanted to play on the computer and Jayden wanted to play two, so I came up with the plan to, one plays in the theater and one plays on the computer for one day. I did not like that idea though. I decided to draw because I also come up with a plan.
I decided to draw a pitcher of  me pitching so I can get an idea. The idea that I got was to take turns and we liked that idea and that was the only thing I thought of because we take turns pitching in baseball. When I got upstairs with Jayden I said “ lets take turns on the computer”, Jayden said “ ok”,and  I said you can go first.

THE END!
